What is Apache Pinot?

Apache Pinot was developed at LinkedIn to serve OLAP queries to users of the site in real time. This video recalls the history of analytics as a modern discipline, then introduces real-time use cases like Uber Eats, which require huge amounts of data to be analyzed with latencies a factor of 100x faster than before. Real-time analytics requires that the data in its results be only seconds old (freshness), must be available to serve tens of thousands of queries per second (concurrency), and be able to return filtered and aggregated results in under 100ms (latency). Pinot was engineered to deliver on these requirements. The StarTree DevRel program was responsible for explaining these requirements to the broader community, and propose Pinot as the best answer to them.
