Confluent Cloud is Cheaper than AWS

When DevRel was enlisted in a price guarantee campaign versus AWS MSK, we had a significant challenge in front of us. Directly promoting a commercial claim—and one related to pricing, no less—would be in tension with our status as trusted teachers and fellow developers in the Kafka Community. We chose to bring back Bare Metalsson, who we find has moved from resisting cloud adoption to resisting AI. He reluctantly consults an AI chatbot to ask how to reduce his managed Kafka costs, confronting a then-timely series of humorous hallucinations, which the obsequeous AI is quick to correct when he pushes back on it. It remains a thoroughly commercial video—it is not educational in any real way—but draws on contemporary tropes to be relatable to technical viewers.
