After all, though what happened Madrid, Jakarta, and Beslan was horrible, one has to keep in mind that those events didn't happen to *Americans*. It's been three years, and &quot;Never Again!&quot; has so far remained true...for Americans. Tragic though these various international incidents are, they're not only far inferior in scale to 9/11 but also much less emotionally horrific to us as non-citizens of the countries in which they occurred.</description>

Granted, although I'm not sure about the emotional impact Beslan has had on Russians compared to what September 11 did to us. It's hard to say. 

You are very right to point out that we as Americans have not been hit since, but I still can't say &quot;never again&quot; in any mood but the subjunctive. Not yet, anyway. May we get there soon...
