Since all I can manage for a comment on this one is another juxtaposition, let me have a go....

"The result is a box you connect to power, to a DSL or cable modem and MAYBE to your PC (if all you want to be is a service provider the PC isn't needed) and it automatically attaches itself to an OSPF mesh network that is self-configuring. In practical terms, this mesh network, which allows distant clients to reach edge nodes by hopping through other clients en route,"

next to...

"If it does, then exciting things will be afoot"

Now to a techie type, those two might go together like cream and coffee. To the rest of us, the irony remains. ;-)

No one will accuse me (to my face, that is) of being a techie. Well, maybe my wife, because she sees how much time I waste trying to get this box to work like I want it to (that and she isn't intimidated by my sulky scowls). BUT! I really like these sorts of ideas, getting the world connected without wires & on the cheap. And grassroots micro-francises just sound kewl. Sell all your Worldcom, first, though.
